Ni-Kso-Ko-Wa - Blackfoot Spirituality, Traditions, Values & Beliefs By Chief Long Standing Bear / 1992 / 68 pages

Book presently out of print

Ni-Kso-Ko-Wa is a Blackfoot word for "My Relatives" It is spoken when one first enters the ceremonial Sweat Lodge. It is a way of greeting all that exists.

In this book you will find answers to questions about the Indian way of life, past, present and future. The language and style is easily acceptable to all reading levels and age groups. It is also suitable for college study, and historians will welcome the fresh insights to age-old material.

The author writes from his heart and head. While growing up he heard these truths from relatives and elders. He relates the teachings of elders and ceremonial leaders, and he draws from his own experiences as well. Long Standing Bear Chief, a Blackfoot, is a college professor, educator, artist, Indian storyteller and lecturer. This collection culminates his goal to reach Indians and non-Indians with information about another culture - his culture.
